What does it take to be a successful grantseeking organization? Success in grantsmanship involves much more than being able to write a good proposal. As an organization, you must also have the right culture, the right values, the right tools, and the right resources in place to support your grantseeking process and manage your grant-funded programs and services well on behalf of your funder and the community you serve.

In this session, you'll learn how to lay the groundwork for effective grantsmanship in both your organization's culture and its practices. You will:

  • Understand the importance of mission-driven grantsmanship
  • Be able to identify your organization's needs and resources to support a systematic and strategic grantseeking process
  • Have a framework for developing and strengthening financial and program accountability
  • Know the resources and practices necessary to position your organization for grants readiness

For this session, you’ll be introduced to GrantsUSA’s exclusive Grants Readiness Assessment checklist—a detailed tool to help you identify what vital grants-readiness resources and practices are already working well in your organization, and where changes and improvements need to be made in order to make sure your organization is truly “grants ready.”
 

The "Grants Stewardship" series organized in partnership with the Nonprofit Association of Oregon shares the principles, tools, and strategies for healthy, long-term success as a grantseeking organization. Not to be confused with a typical “Grant-Writing 101”-type program, this is a rigorous, content-rich curriculum designed for grants novices and veterans alike. Although it is strongly recommended that people sign up for and attend the entire series (at a significant discount!), registration is available on a one-at-a-time basis. ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Maryn Boess is a 24-year grant professional with more than $30 million in grant funding to her credit. As founder of GrantsUSA LLC, she created a portfolio of high-quality, low-cost grants information, tools, publications, websites, and training curricula, including the multi-level Grantsmanship Academy certificate course and the Ultimate Grants Toolkit resource notebook and CD set. A leader in the national grantsmanship field, Maryn travels extensively to share her highly-regarded workshops and seminar presentations on strategies for nonprofit success. Since October 2006, she has also been “on the other side” —managing about $1.1 million annually in grantmaking for higher education through the Arizona Board of Regents.
